I strongly urge you not to approve or support New York University’s massive planned 20 year expansion plan in the Village. The plan is not only wrong for the Village and surrounding neighborhoods, which would be severely impacted, but New York City and even NYU itself.

The plan requires undoing long-standing neighborhood zoning and open space protections and urban renewal deed restrictions, as well as selling off public land used as parks. NYU would shoehorn 2.5 million square feet of space – the equivalent of the Empire State Building! – into an area south of Washington Square Park which simply cannot absorb it. It would drastically tip the balance of this and surrounding neighborhoods. At best, in a mere 20 years, NYU would be back asking for more zoning changes and more public land to expand further.

There are much better alternatives. In the Financial District such development would be contextual and welcome, adding to the diversity of that growing neighborhood. It would be just a few minutes by subway and walking distance from NYU’s main hubs in Washington Square and Downtown Brooklyn. It would allow NYU vastly greater possibilities for future growth, and in a way that would help the city, not strangle and overwhelm some of its most historic and delicately-balanced neighborhoods.

The firing of a NY1 camera man for filming our protest Day 1 outside the Rudin Condo sales office, the constant harassment while attempting to protest which is my right along with the media black-out just like when we fought Bloomberg and his mini-me pushing through an illegal third term along with battling the other destroyer of the area NYU, pres. John Sexton and the worst most evil city planner Amanda the People’s Burden giving all her fellow 1% friends zone busting greens lights to supersize our communities crushing and destroying our neighborhoods is just too much with sacharin sweet sound bytes from that manure shoveling Mitchell Moss and NYU and Rudin flunkie is JUST TOO MUCH.

Rudin Management Company’s ULURP application is now pending before President Stringer.

“When St. Vincent’s closed, the Lower West Side was left no hospital : zero hospital beds,” said Louis Flores.  “This compares with 2,206 hospital beds in the Upper West Side, 4,064 hospital beds in the Upper East Side, and 3,101 hospital beds in the Lower East Side. How is this responsible city planning ?”

Monday morning, Nov. 14,  Bill Rudin has been invited to join protestors at 9am - 11am  that stand outside his sales office 7 days a week demanding a hospital even if it is for a couple of hours to alert the community the sales offices are now open and all Bill Rudin civic leader has delivered in terms of a hospital is 2 beds.

There will be a chair with Bill Rudin's name  by police barricade in the middle of the block....144 West 12th Street.

Day to day the the activists stand in the middle of the block or float over to 6th and 12th or the weekend by the emergency entrance of St. Vincent’s asking passer by to contact Bill Rudin.  If Bill Rudin is a civil leader why isn’t he leading the call for a hospital?
